The 4th meeting of the Interdisciplinary Group to guide and assist National Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in preparing and organizing the United Nations Day of VESAK 2014

In the morning of April 29, the 4th meeting of the Interdisciplinary Group to guide and assist National Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (NVBS) in preparing and organizing the United Nations Day of VESAK (UNDV) 2014 took place at the Headquarter of the Committee for Religious Affairs.

All members of the group belonging to 11 Central Ministries and Departments and 4 related provinces and cities, Most Ven. Thich Thanh Nhieu – Standing Vice President of NVBS cum Co-President of International Council of Day of VESAK (ICDV), and other representatives from National Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (NVBS) attended the meeting. Mr. Pham Dung – Head of the Committee for Religious Affairs, Leader of the Group – led the meeting.

At the meeting, all members of the group reported the results of carrying out the tasks related to the guiding process and the assistance to NVBS in organizing VESAK 2014, all the underlying difficulties and contents needed to agree on performing and articles which proposed the Prime Minister to give guiding counsels.

Since its establishment, the Interdisciplinary Group closely cooperated with NVBS and each member of the Group to realize the guide of the Prime Minister and Vice Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc on instructing NVBS to organize VESAK 2014, preparing assuring conditions and ensuring the VESAK 2014 to take place safely and successfully, achieving the political goal proposed by Prime Minister and Vice Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc. So far, all the preparations for the UNDV 2014 at Bai Dinh Pagoda, Ninh Binh have been fundamentally finished. As anticipated, the festival will on a daily basis welcome approximately 1.500 leaders of Buddhist Sanghas and schools and international Buddhists from 95 countries and 10.000 national Buddhists and people.
