In representative of the Buddhist Association of China and in name of my own, we’d like to extend sincere congratulations to that the 11th International Conference of the United Nations Day of Vesak will be held in Ninh Binh Province, Vietnam from 7th to 11th of May, 2014 and to be hosted by National Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (NVBS).
In congratulations to the commitment of that the International Council for the Day of Vesak (ICDV)has been recognized for its Consultative Role to the UNESCO since 2013, we’d like to extend high admiration to the Most Venerable Prof. Dr. Phra Brahmapundit, Rector of Mahachulalongkomrajavidyalaya University and Chairman of ICDV as well as other members of the council for the excellent work to the UNDV celebrations. Moreover, the conference in coming in Vietnam will enjoy both expectations and significances as well.
It is significant that the theme for the 2014 Celebrations will be “Buddhist Perspective towards Achieving the UN Millennium Development Goal”. We in China, since 1978, have accelerated development with efforts and through reform and opening-up. All that we do in China now serves but one purpose — to eradicate poverty and build on this basis to achieve modernization with prosperity, democracy, advanced culture and harmony. Also, Chinese Buddhist communities had make great contributions with efforts for the development and would like to share our experiences with all friends in the Dharma from various countries and regions in worldwide for the conference.
Finally, May the Celebrations a complete success! May all friends of the organising committee be healthy and happy as well as in auspiciousness!
