CONGRATULATORY MESSAGE
From Sanghanayaka Suddhananda Mahathero, Bangladesh

I am immensely pleased to learn that 11th United Nations Day of Vesak Celebration and Conference-2014 is going to be held in Vietnam for the second time in history. I take the opportunity of expressing my heartiest congratulations to the Rector, Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University and President, International Association of Buddhist Universities and Chairman, ICDV-UNDV 2014 International Organizing Committee and Standing Vice-President of NVBC, Vietnam and other concerned for the relentless efforts for making the celebrations and conference a great success.
Buddha Purnima (Vesak Day) is the thrice Sacred Day of the Buddhist Commemorating the Birth, Enlightenment and Great Demise (Mahaparinibbana) of Buddha. The Buddhist world observe it as Vesak Day. United Nation passed an unanimous resolution to observer the Day as United Nations Day of Vesak throughout the world. Every year this historic day is being observed with due solemnity in different countries of the world. This year this is going to be observed in Bai Dinh Temple, Ninh Binh, Vietnam as hosted by the National Vietnam Buddhist Sangha(NVBS).
In the present new world order the main themes and sub-themes of celebration are most timely and appropriate and I hope new and conducive source of world peace will come out from the conference. Buddha’s teachings for loving kindness, compassion, altruistic joy and equanimity cover for achieving goals of setting up world peace which are of most burning issue.
Bangladesh is a land of communal harmony. We are a minority group in our motherland; but we avail the opportunity of equal rights and privileges in all spheres of our national life. Since Buddhists are recognized as peace lovers; therefore the Buddhists of Bangladesh are respected by people of others faiths in this country.
I hope the 11th United Nations Day of Vesak Celebration and Conference will pave the way in establishing peace in the world.
In fine I would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the organizer of this Celebration for organizing such an important & significant conference. I offer my greetings and good wishes from the Buddhists of Bangladesh and also Vesak greetings from the members of the delegation of Bangladesh Bouddha Kristi Prachar Sangha. I wish the Conference a grand success.
May all living beings be happy.

                                                                                                                                                                                                                      Sanghanayaka Suddhananda Mahathero
                                                                                                                                                                                                                                               President
                                                                                                                                                                                                                    Bangladesh Bouddha Kristi Prachar Sangha

CONGRATULATORY MESSAGE
From Artashes K. Ghazaryan, Ph.D, Armenia

Your Holiness, all Venerable Sangha, Distinguished Delegates, and Dhamma Friends!
It is a great honour for me to convey best wishes and warmest greetings from all the Buddhist people of the Republic of Armenia to the Supreme Sangha, to the people of Vietnam and to all Buddhists as well as to all the people of good will worldwide with the thrice-sacred day of Vesak.
Achieving the Millennium Development Goals would be the most significant political, social and economic success in modern history. In addition to saving millions of lives and improving the quality of life for hundreds of millions of people who currently live in poverty, this could be the most important investment in a peaceful and prosperous future for our children and grandchildren.
At the heart of the Millennium Development Goals lies a recognition that all problems within their complexity and magnitude cannot be solved by any single actor, be it a national government, any organization or an enterprise. Instead what is needed is a new kind of cooperation between all interested parties to work together in good faith.
Therefore the main topic of this conference in Vietnam, 2014 – “Buddhist Contribution to Achieve the UN Millennium Development Goals” is an extremely important theme to be widely discussed by the Buddhist leader and scholars through the light of the teaching of the Lord Buddha and we strongly believe that such discussions can help to find an effective solutions to resolve the stated problems in order to save millions of lives on our planet.
On behalf of the Armenian Delegation I would like to convey a strong wish that this Vesak would mark the beginning of the new Buddhist year where much progress can be made towards the accomplishment of Millennium Development Goals and viable solutions will be found to reduce enormous suffering that exists in the World.
I wish this conference to proceed with utmost success and fulfillment of all aims.
May all beings be well and Happy!
May the Buddha’s teaching illuminate the way of all of us for peace and welfare of all beings!

CONGRATULATORY MESSAGE
From Ven. Shilabhadra Mahathero, Bangladesh

I would like to offer my hearty congratulations on the 11th anniversary celebration and international Buddhist conference of   United Nations Day of Vesak  conference 2014  will  be  hosted  by  the  National Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (NVBS) for the second time in Ninh Binh Province, Vietnam from 07 to 11 May 2014.
Vesak Day is significant to commemorate Buddha’s birth, enlightenment and passing away, this year’s celebrations should naturally be very significant ones. Buddha’s enlightenment is the very origin of Buddha Dhamma.  Without this great achievement, Buddhism couldn’t have existed in this world. All of Buddha’s  teachings  were  born  from  the  enlig hten men t ,  a nd  s p read t h r o u g h h i s sermons. Buddha preached the teachings to people in various places in India, which took root in their mind like the seeds sown in a field, shot up as sprouts. We cannot thank Buddha enough for the teachings he gave us.
I extend my best wishes to the fruitful accomplishments and success of the 11th United Nations Day of Vesak International Conference and Celebrations.

                                                                              Ven. Shilabhadra Mahathero
