CONGRATULATORY MESSAGE
From Ven. Dr. Bhikshu Jnanapurnik

Most Ven Dr Thich Nhat Tu
Deputy Rector of Vietnam Buddhist University
Congratulatory message for grand success of 11th United Nations Day of Vresak celebrations and conference in Vietnam 2014.
Dear Most Venerable Dr. Thich Nhat Tu,
I feel honored being a Nepali citizen to have an opportunity to congratulate you for taking steps to organize 11th United Nations Day of Vesak celebrations and would like to express my sincere gratitude to the host of the conference National Vietnam Buddhist Sangha.
The theme of the celebration itself clarifies the richness in Buddhist principles. The theme on Buddhist Perspective towards achieving the UN Millennium Goals and the sub-themes (i) Buddhist Response to Sustainable Development and Social Change, (ii) Buddhist Response to Global Warming and Environmental Protection, (iii) Buddhist Contributions to Healthy Living, (iv) Peace-building and Post-Conflict Recovery, (v) Buddhist Education and University Level Curriculum open up new dimension in development work with its linkages to peacebuilding. The peace messages from Siddhartha Gautam in this new era of science and technology are the tools to peace building. At one side, the materialistic development and competition in the world is going on and on the other side there is an extreme contest of weapons which is destructive. It is easy to destroy compared to the efforts for construction. Vietnam has already experienced the direct consequences of war and realized that the step to stop the nation enter into the conflict again, is to establish PEACE. Peace building is an effort which needs team work and Buddhist Summit is no exception to an example of team¬work.
The fundamental peace principles spread by Gautain Buddhan as purely peace messages are to be studied, researched, analyzed, followed and then mobilized for making peace in the earth. I hope this Conference can help promote disseminate these fundamental peace principles. The representatives from different countries will talk about Buddhism and global concerns and will find out solutions to eliminate hostility, violence, brutality, bloodshed, dominance, abuse and atrocity.
I would like to thank the organizers for taking initiative for creating spiritual base for the three hundred seventy million Buddhists all over the world. The sectarian differences within Buddhism in the names of Theravada, Vajrayana and Mahayana have now been appealed to come together to revert to the original teachings of Lord Buddha.
Finally. I would like to wish this Summit a great success in uniting different sectors and help all to praise and revere Lord Buddha’s noble ideas and achievements.
