CONGRATULATORY MESSAGE
From Ven. Han Shan, Paraguay
This year we celebrate the 11th Anniversary of the United Nations Day of Vesak (B.E. 2557) 2014 in Vietnam. I will be happy and honored to be there, and want to wish you Happy Vesak Day and to extend my heartful thanks to the organizers, supporters and volunteers for this great event.
The theme for this year’s celebration and conferences is “Buddhist Contribution to Achieve the UN Millennium Development Goals”. The sub-themes cover the following: (i) Buddhist Response to Sustainable Development and Social Change, (ii) Buddhist Response to Global Warming and Environmental Protection, (iii) Buddhist Contributions to Healthy Living, (iv) Peace-building and Post-Conflict Recovery, (v) Buddhist Education and University Level Curriculum. This Conference also aims to foster co-operation among Buddhist communities and institutions, and to develop Buddhist solutions to the global crisis. I’m sure it will do.
I’m happy that we will establish new bonds of friendship with people from other traditions and other countries and nurture the brotherhood with our brothers and sisters already known. I wish big sucess to this event. May us return to our homes and temples with more inner strength to strive to learn, teach and live according to the teaching of Lord Buddha, and help all beings to be truly happy walking the path of Dharma.
Yours in the Dharma,
