Mr. Panyarak Poolthup, Embassy of Royal Thailand
CONGRATULATORY MESSAGE
From Royal Thai Embassy
Most Venerable Thich Thanh Nhieu,
It is my honour to extend my warmest felicitations and best wishes to the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the National Vietnam Buddhist Shangha (NVBS) on the occasion of being chosen once again as host of the list Anniversary Celebration and International Buddhist Conference of United Nations Day of Vesak 2014 in Ninh Binh Province.
Vesak Day or Visakha Puja is not only one of the most important days for all Buddhists worldwide to commemorate the birth, enlightenment, and the ascension of the Buddha, but also the day we show our gratitude to Lord Buddha for his great devotion to all mankind.
I strongly believe that under the timely theme “Buddhist Perspective towards Achieving the UN Millennium Development Goals”, the Conference would highlight the fact that the teachings of Lord Buddha and the message inherent in the philosophy of his teachings will never become outdated and continue to be relevant until heaven and earth shall endure. Peace, sustainable development and respect for human rights - the three core pillars of the United Nations - all find their places in Buddhism. By following the teachings of Lord Buddha’s Middle Path, we are all walking on the path to sustainable and lasting peace.
Once again, I extend my best wishes to the fruitful accomplishment and success of the 11th United Nations Day of Vesak International Conference and Celebrations.
(Panyarak Poolthup)
Ambassador of Thailand
